tar: file name too long (how to fix)

To avoid skipping files with names longer than 255 chars, use the "E" option on tar:

# tar Ecpf - /zones | gzip >> zones-usrtp1sspap009.tar.gz

Command above is useful when you don't have too much space left to compress/gzip a file
